The national women's U20 team has advanced to the third round of Africa's qualification competition for the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica. The Lionesses defeated the Leopards of the Democratic Republic of the Congo 5-0 in the second round African zone qualifications, which took place on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at the Yaounde Omnisports Stadium. It was an exciting game that had spectators on their feet cheering on the players with song and dancing. The Lionesses controlled the match from the outset, seeming to be more technical than their opponents. However, they wasted the most of their scoring opportunities, particularly in the opening 15 minutes of the game. Coach Ndoumou Mike's ladies had excellent ball possession but couldn't execute most of their moves.

Cameroon's first goal came in the 28th minute, when Fadimatou Kome scored. The second goal was scored by Aboudi Jeniffer Asongma in the 43rd minute. Brenda Tabe scored two goals and substitute player Annie Felicia Enganemben scored one in the second half as Cameroon played a more tactical style. The Democratic Republic of the Congo fought valiantly, but it could not withstand the fury of the Cameroonians.
