Elections that were postponed owing to the Africa Cup of Nations being planned to start in Cameroon in January will be held on December 11th, with the Africa Cup of Nations itself set to start on January 9th in Cameroon.

40-year-old Eto'o, while starting his playing career in both Spain and Italy, won the domestic and European titles in both countries.

The candidacy of Samuel Eto'o follows in the wake of controversy in Cameroon, when candidates found out that they could not run due to the country's constitution that forbids dual citizenship. The player Eto'o was granted dual Spanish nationality while at Barcelona.

The deadline for candidates to declare their intention to run is October 11th.
