Imbole Mbue, the author of the selected Oprah's Book Club read, has made a name for herself in the literary stratosphere. Imbole's novel, Behold the Dreamers, is a masterpiece, and Imbole was inspired to write the book due to her questioning her reason for coming to the United States after losing her job as a research manager after the 2008 economic crash in the United States. 

Imbole is a Cameroonian native who emigrated to the United States.
